LOCATION: Genoa, Liguria

DATE OF ISSUE: Completed
PURPOSE OF THE WORK: Temporary suspended structure for piers and bridge maintenance
PRODUCTS: FlyDeck system, steel cover boards, system scaffolding, staircases, transport platform
HIGHLIGHTS: Helical ramp junction between A7 and A10 motorways.
Suspended structure for the helical ramp connecting the A7 and A10 motorways to the new San Giorgio bridge in Genoa (Ex Morandi bridge). Two main difficulties: the ramp performing a 360-degree curve and the height difference of about 50 m.
An ad hoc suspended structure was designed and assembled on the curve consisting of FlyDeck platform modules and gap cover panels to follow the radius and to compensate the space between one module and the next one.
On the extremely steep side retaining walls, a mast climbing work platform with a slope close to 40% was set up.
It took only five months during Covid-19 lockdown to set up all the scaffolding around the piers and 5,000 sqm of suspended FlyDeck structure.
